Our Sarasota Materials Recovery Facility
The Balcones Sarasota Material Recovery Facility (MRF) opened in 2019 as Single Stream Recyclers, Florida’s first artificial intelligence (AI) powered recycling facility. Balcones acquired Single Stream Recyclers in 2020. The MRF has a 50-ton-per-hour capacity and processes approximately 10K tons of material each month.
Balcones services Sarasota County and other surrounding municipalities’ residential single stream, and processes commercial single stream. The facility achieved a Gold Certification from the Glass Recycling Coalition, becoming Balcones’ first facility to reach this milestone. It remains one of the most advanced in the country, leveraging several AI-powered robots and optical sorters to optimize bale output quality.
