Our Jersey City Materials Recovery Facility
Text: The Claremont Terminal Material Recovery Facility (MRF) was built in 2003 as SMR’s first MRF, now operating as Balcones Recycling. The recycling facility is one of the largest in the New York/New Jersey region, processing 8K tons per month. Curbside recyclables are brought in by truck and barge, and processed materials are exported via rail, ship, and truck.
The MRF accepts recyclables primarily from the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) through its curbside collection program, along with curbside recyclables from New Jersey municipalities, and from commercial haulers.
